ParticipateDB: Covering 23 Countries and Counting

by Tim on April 6, 2010

Over the weekend, we released a new feature that allows our currently 30+ contributors to add country information to each of their entries. We just completed updating the entire list of 366 entries (tools, projects and references). You can see the result here:

So far, it looks like the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and Canada are the countries with the most coverage.

Over the coming months, we’d like to broaden our range and add projects from non-English speaking or otherwise less obvious places. I’m sure there’s lots to discover and learn. If you can help in any way, please contact us.

We hope you like this new addition. It’s the first of a whole list of metadata that we plan to capture. Some of these elements are fairly straightforward (e.g. project start and end dates), others are a bit more messy (e.g. categorization of projects by subject, intended outcome, impact etc.) and we plan to involve our contributors to make sure we get it right.

As always, we like to hear from you.  Sound off in the comments and let us know how we can make the site more useful. Thanks!
